Il corso intende affrontare le problematiche legate alla conservazione e gestione di materiali fotografici dalle prime tecniche dagherrotipiche ai supporti fotografici contemporanei, con particolare riguardo alle problematiche legate alla conservazione, esposizione, legislazione e diritto d'autore, catalogazione, digitalizzazione, gestione e fruizione su web, storia della fotografia e delle tecniche fotografiche.
Il corso, diviso in 96 ore di lezioni complessive, è articolato in tre settimane, distribuite tra luglio e ottobre 2010. Esperti del settore esporranno le metodologie e gli standard di intervento per la gestione dei materiali fotografici, con approfondimenti mirati all'archiviazione, alla catalogazione, alla digitalizzazione e all'esposizione, nonché alla gestione web di contenuti digitali, alla legislazione e al diritto d'autore, alla storia della fotografia e delle tecniche fotografiche. Verranno inoltre illustrati sistemi di protezione digitale delle immagini su web, normative sull'Intellectual Property Rights e informative sulle istituzioni fotografiche nazionali e internazionali.
I partecipanti del corso avranno inoltre la possibilità di accedere e visionare materiali fotografici in originale conservati nelle Raccolte Museali Alinari. Sono previste inoltre visite guidate alle Collezioni e al MNAF. Museo Nazionale Alinari di Fotografia.

Obiettivi e destinatari:
Il corso intende affrontare le problematiche legate alla gestione e conservazione di archivi fotografici nella prospettiva di una formazione e aggiornamento professionale, ed è indirizzato a coloro che si occupano di gestione, direzione e coordinamento di archivi fotografici presso istituzioni pubbliche e private.

La sede:
Il Corso di Gestione di Archivi Fotografici si svolgerà nella sede della prestigiosa e storica istituzione fiorentina Fratelli Alinari in Largo Alinari 15 e al MNAF-Museo Nazionale Alinari di Fotografia in piazza Santa Maria Novella 14a.

Struttura e orario:
Il corso è strutturato in 96 ore suddivise in tre settimane, una per mese tra giugno, luglio e settembre 2011, a partire dal pomeriggio di lunedì alle ore 14,00 e con termine il venerdì alle ore 13,00, per complessive 32 ore settimanali.
Le date delle settimane saranno indicativamente le seguenti:
6-10 giugno, 11-15 luglio, 19-24 settembre

Modalità di iscrizione:
Il corso è a numero chiuso, per un massimo di 16 partecipanti, con una selezione delle domande di partecipazione da parte del Comitato Scientifico in base alla valutazione dei Curriculum Vitae inviati con la domanda.
Le domande dovranno essere inviate alla Fratelli Alinari. Fondazione per la Storia della Fotografia entro e non oltre la scadenza del 15 maggio 2011.
Verrà data conferma dell�accettazione della domanda entro il 20 maggio 2011.
La quota di partecipazione al corso è di € 1.950,00 (esente IVA ai sensi dell'art. 10 del DPR 633/72) che dovrà essere
versata all'inizio del corso tramite Bonifico Bancario o tramite Assegno Circolare.

ETNOFILm visual anthropology and film editing workshop will take place in Rovinj (Croatia) from 03-08 April 2011. The workshop forms part of ETNOFILm - Festival of ethnographic film organized for the 3rd year by the Ethnographic Museum of Istria.

The workshop is open to anthropology students, to students from related disciplines but also to anyone interested in anthropological issues and filmmaking. Previous knowledge in visual anthropology is welcomed but it is not necessary. The program is divided in 3 parts:

1.Introduction to Visual Anthropology � theory and methodology

2.Filming � theory and practice
Lecturer: Davor Konjiku�ić, Academy of Performing Arts and Drama, Zagreb � Croatia

3.Editing � theory and practice

Aims
Participants will be introduced to theoretical and methodological issues in visual anthropology; will get the basic knowledge in using the video camera and managing the editing software; participants will gain the ability to use by themselves the audio-visual media in documentation and/or research process of cultural and social phenomena.

Participants and registration fee
The workshop is limited to 15 participants. Registration deadline is 10th of January 2011.
The workshop fee includes: workshop lectures, working material and technical support, one daily meal, free participation in other festival events, free movie screenings during he festival which will be held from 07-09 April 2011.

The Socio-cultural Centre Ascona (Centro Incontri Umani Ascona) is a Swiss Foundation set up
by Dr. Angela Hobart, University of London, in the memory of her parents, Dr. Edmund and Margiana Stinnes - von Gaevernitz. The Centre's aim is to promote understanding, respect and peace internationally. By encouraging exchange among scholars, students, artists and laypeople of different countries and disciplines, the Centre celebrates the capacity of humans to revitalize consciousness and remake their lived realities.

Call for applications
Post-graduate students in the field of anthropology (practising visual anthropology) are invited to apply for this workshop.
Submissions of applications are possible till January 15, 2011.

Who can apply?
Students of anthropology in a broad sense (with a finished BA), who are currently working on or are planning to make a MA or PhD thesis with film or on an audiovisual media project, can apply. The project should be unfinished at the time of the workshop.
As the workshop is organised in cooperation with Centro Incontri Umani, which seeks to encouraging understanding and respect, reconciliation and peace internationally, we welcome students who have an interest in humanitarian issues.

Who are the teachers?
The workshop will be staffed by three academics from the organising universities:
- Prof. Peter Crawford, Visual Cultural Studies, University of Tromsø, Norway
- Dr. Beate Engelbrecht, University of Göttingen, Germany
- Dr. Nadine Wanono, Centre d'Etudes des mondes Africains and CNRS Paris I

Where does the workshop take place?
The sessions will take place at the Monte Verita (www.monteverita.org) in Ascona.

What is the aim of the workshop?
The aim of the workshop is to give students already involved in film practice-based anthropological projects theoretical and practical inputs to improving their projects. In the workshop the students will thus be provided with professional feedback and constructive ideas, helped to further develop their ideas, and learn more about visual anthropology and visual ethnographic research methods.

Programme:
Eight students will be accepted for the workshop, which will take place over a period of one week and will consist of three elements:
- Each student will have a half-day (3 hour) session to present and discuss his/her project
- A film programme (in the evenings). The screenings are open to the public.
The students have the task to prepare the discussion.
- A master class by an invited anthropologist or filmmaker

General conditions:
When a student has been accepted for the workshop s/he should write for the workshop
- an overall outline of their planned or ongoing project identifying the topic, main anthropological questions, theoretical and methodological issues, and timetable.
- a research paper (10 pages) presenting the topic of the research in detail and the use of film in the project. A draft chapter from their thesis might be added.
The project may come from any relevant topics with regard to social and cultural anthropology.
The students should indicate how their audiovisual work contributes to their overall project.

Specific requirements for applicants:
- Applicants should hold a first degree in cultural or social anthropology or a related discipline.
- Applicants should be officially registered students in a university.
- Applicants should have begun their own project and come to the workshop with their unfinished film or other audio-visual media linked to the project. The format of films or media for the workshop should be readable with Windows Media Player.

- The project description to be presented (maximum two pages),
- C.V. (one page),
- A copy of a valid student card,
- And a letter of recommendation from his or her supervisor.

Responses to applications will be sent by End February 2011.

Fees and accommodation:
There will be no course fees, but there will be a booking fee of 200,- Euro as advance payment for the accommodation which has to be paid when accepting the invitation to the workshop. The participants will be responsible for their own travel, accommodation and food costs (free basic lunches will be provided by the organisers). However, help will be provided in booking accommodation.
The fee will not be refunded when cancelling the participation 6 weeks before the workshop or later.
